About Our Sheriff
Kristin Graziano is a decorated 37 year veteran of Law Enforcement with a vision of forward-thinking policing practices. Focused on community wellness, she has enacted a revolutionary way of improving professional standards in the criminal justice system her 1st year as Sheriff. She is a dynamic leader and strongly committed to promoting a justice system grounded in fairness, equity, compassion, and fiscal responsibility.
Service Beyond the Call
Sheriff Kristin Graziano has garnered National attention for implementing programs in restorative practices that have resulted in the first in the country college graduates in a detention center. The comprehensive program has become a model for detention centers Nationwide and recognized by the National Institute of Corrections.

Graziano is a trailblazing Sheriff who earned the respect and admiration of her peers and the public. Sheriff Graziano made HERstory by becoming the First WOMAN elected to the position of Sheriff in the State of South Carolina. In 2015, she received the prestigious Medal of Valor from the South Carolina Sheriff’s Association. During her tenure as a key member of the SWAT team, Graziano lead the elite unit as an Element Leader.

Sheriff Graziano serves on the FirstNet Authority Board of Directors, a vital role that ensures the safety and security of the Nation’s emergency responders and public safety community. She is a passionate coach for the College of Charleston women’s rugby team, inspiring the next generation of female athletes and future leaders.

In 2020 she ran a successful campaign endorsed by National Organizations Victory Fund, and SC Equality; Sheriff Graziano holds a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and a Master Degree in Business Administration with a focus in Public Policy. She is a proud Aluma of Emerge South Carolina, a program that trains women to run for public office. In 2021, she was honored in Columbia as Woman of the Year for her outstanding achievements and contributions.
